IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE

There is a common understanding of strategists that a strategic process consists of four basic elements.
The only dispute might evolve about the right secquence of the steps - finally there is no right or wrong.

Data are fascinating and it is easier to draw charts than to agree on goals and priorities.

Everybody agrees that it is a good idea to develop SMART goals. But it's difficult to find them in corporations. No doubt: the CFO has tons of KPI's and controllers know exactely what they measure. But how about qualitative goals like customer and employees satisfaction, sustainability goals and leading positions? Analysis have shown that strategy paper (also those produced by strategy consultants) lack of defining and documenting goals.
The application of EIDOS ensures that goals are always captured.

The difficulty in strategy development is the generation of option. The same applies for the development of scenarios. It's a good advice to think about options a little longer. There is a certain risk that the competition will do so.

in theory

The reason why this bar ranges from zero to a very small portion is simple. Option evaluation requires the availability of goals. A strategy evaluation is not feasible if goals are not available or not suitable to evaluate strategies.

Strategy Development
is not rocket science

BUT GOOD AND STRUCTURED THINKING

Strategy development is structured thinking about the future and thus scenarios, about strategic option, about strategy robustness and the ability of a strategy to fulfill corporate goals.
